F.A.Q.
Opus C.M.T. Scan/Pro

Q: I have a CMT-Scan/Pro system and wish to utilise the Bluetooth function. How do I connect the diagnostic head with my PC?

A: First of all, make sure your PC or laptop supports the Bluetooth pairing system. Open the CMT program and go to the ‘connect’ button. A pop up should appear asking you to enter a pass key. The CD containing the software for the CMT program has a key number printed on the bottom of the sticker attached to the case. Enter this number when prompted, the connection should now be complete.

Q: I have established a Bluetooth connection but the connection keeps dropping out. Why is this?

A: Make sure the vehicle is within 10 metres of the computer otherwise the connection may drop out. We also suggest using a USB connection when re-coding any control units to avoid loss of data.

Q: After reading out a list of fault codes from a vehicle, there are number of fault codes with no description beside them. How do I know what these codes mean?

A: If the fault code begins with the letter P and is followed by a zero, this implies a generic fault code common to all vehicle brands as of 2002. Any other fault codes are manufacturer-specific. V-Tech UK can supply you with OBD Code Reader, a new program with over 23,000 generic and manufacturer-specific fault codes on file and online services offer a continually updated database. It’s a great tool for chasing an unknown fault code and works well in conjunction with the Opus CMT & Win Star systems.

Q: I am setting up CMT Scan or Pro for the first time on my computer. After I have completed the installation process, I still cannot connect to the selected vehicle. Why is this?

A: Your hardware has probably not been installed correctly. Please follow this process carefully to establish the correct connection.

Firstly, connect the CMT module to the car so that it has power.

Enter the start menu of your computer and select control panel.

Select system, and then click on the hardware tab.

Click on Device manager. In this section, there should be a yellow question mark with CMT next to it. Right click on this device and enter properties. Click on the driver tab, then select update driver.

The windows driver update wizard should now appear. Select ‘Install from list or specific location (advanced)’ then click next.

Click on ‘browse’ to search for the installation software. Enter C drive, program files, Opus, CMT, driver, and then USB. Click OK, then next. Your system will then search and install the driver using the CMT software. After this has finished, restart your computer.

Open the CMT program. Click on the toolbox (third box from the top left hand corner) then click on hardware setup (bottom box).

Click on settings. There will be 2 sections, one named Opus 186/SDP/CMT, one named EOBD. Underneath will be a drop box. Select ‘virtual com port USB’ from the list, then test. It should say ‘Test ok.’ Do this for both 186/SDP/CMT and EOBD.

Now click on the CMT tab (second from top left) and select update. This may take a few minutes. After this has finished, your hardware is installed and is now ready to use.
